Just got round to fitting the remus (GENESIS TITANIUM) that came in its box when I bought my 1150 adventure. Have to say, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Apart from sounding fantastic, the engine character has completely changed - spins up really easily and the amount of response in the higher revs is a revalation. Would never have thought it could make such a difference. Downside - think the fuel consumption's going to go up as it's impossible to resist wrenching the throttle to the stop!!!!:D :D

Now finish the job and get rid of the cat and fit the y-piece. :clap

I have recently done the same. :thumb2

Had a K&N and finally plumped for a nice shiny new Y piece and Remus Titanium revolution can.

Loud or what  ... will get used to it i'm sure  noticed especially 4500 and above it has a lot more ooommph.

I also did the cat code plug conversion which remaps the fuel to run with this setup.

Very pleased so far and saved about 6kg in weight:clap

Remus & Y-Piece

I've got a Remus&y-piece fitted to my standard 02 1150,and find her running fine with the odd backfire.Would I have to change any settings on the bike?

Well i dumped my remus and went back to the standard end can with a Y piece, with the cat code mod .

Made no difference to the performance ( noisier doesn't equal faster :augie ) , but makes it a lot better to ride long distances

Y piece, standard can & pop pop pop

I recently put on the Y piece with the standard cat. Loads of popping and backfiring on deceleration. Did the Steptoe mod ie link wire instead of the cat code plug. Still loads of popping. So today I took the link wire out, so nothing there, and it's still popping like a good'un, to the point it's likely to scare pedestrians in town!
Now, when I got the y piece off Ebay it didn't come with the 2 clamps to clamp it to the downpipes and the OEM ones were just too big so it wasn't sealing properly. This would explain the popping. However, I've got smaller clamps and the seal is much better. Is there anything to use to ensure this is absolutely leakproof without messing up the lamda? I've read on here that silicon can bugger it.

I'm not a mechanic, but surely if unburnt fuel is igniting in the pipes there's something wrong. Can anyone advise which cat code setting I should be using, as all 3 I've tried have still had popping (OK before up to temp, and generally pops between 4 & 5k decelerating). I really don't want to run the bike so it damages anything, and someone must have the same set up without the popping! Standard can, y piece (with lamda) OEM air filter 2001 1150GS. With my Tuono, I put on a PCIII & got a custom map done, but pennies won't allow that sort of cosetting!

Now find yourself a decent performance chip, I had one one my last 1150 and the difference was fantastic right through the rev range.
Fuel consumption was up by 10-15% though.

If it's an 1150GS twin spark I can recommend retaining the cat and fitting a stub pipe.

More flexible, significantly better fuel consumption and no popping.

And you can use two full size panniers:thumb2

Thanks for the replies. :beerjug:

It's the single spark one.

Was hoping that there will be a cat code that's correct for y piece and standard can already in the Motronic unit. I haven't overlooked something silly like needing to disconnect battery to reset the unit for a different map to be used after doing the cat code?? :nenau

Am trying not to spend more pennies at the minute so can't afford a chip, unless there are decent very cheap ones out there!

Aahh, after further searching it seems I do need to reset the Motronic :augie

Will try that tomorrow. Still a bit unsure as to whether the Steptoe link mod or no plug at all is the best for my set up. Will try both & see, unless anyone can tell me. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

It seems strange that some seem to do a lot of popping & others don't. I replaced my twinspark cat with a S/Hand Remus Y & kept the standard can, put the tiniest smear of exhaust sealant on the joints, I've done about 1000 miles on 95 & 98 petrol, in that time it's only backfired about 5 times. With my bike there doesn't seem any difference if the Steptoes catcode jump lead is in or not, though I've had it in more than out, so now I'm used to it I'll remove it & see if I can tell a difference, my bike is maybe one of the ones it makes no difference on.
