Is it beneficial putting on a Remus can with a decat Y piece, would I have to alter the fueling or anything?

Its noisier

Backfires on the over run

You can put a Standard can on with a Remus If you wish

Just make sure it is a proper Remus there were a load of cheap schite options that were a terrible fit !!

Hi lodgey. After hearing an oil head with a Remus blatting around Bracknell, I bought one for my 1100.

Sounded great, blatting around Bracknell…

However, on my long slogs up the M1, wow it was awful, just a loud monotone drone. I guess it depends on the riding you will be doing but for long distances, I quickly swapped back to standard.

Been there, done that. :blast
And tried a stubby.
Back to standard. Much better. No horrible droning on a run.
No perceptible performance advantage. It just sounded faster.
A few have a Y piece and standard tail can.

That’s what I have.
After having a Y piece and Remus end can fitted and very very quickly getting fed up with the noise and how tiring it was riding long distances I refitted the original end can.
No bike performance difference with the original end can, apart from now being able to ride faster and for longer distances without all the the childish look at me noise and the accompanying ear ringing

First mod I did, or the dealer did for me in 2002, y-piece and silencer. I got a Sebring initially, then a Remus GP that some may remember Hein Gericke did a deal on for £100. Eventually, I picked up a Remus revolution titanium and it still pops on the overrun as you crack the throttle. I briefly tried an eBay special at the TT, but the complaints at breakfast and the car alarms I set off at 4am were enough to swap it back before I went out again.

I’ve been happy with mine over the years and I’ll ride to Sid’s house in the Dordogne with it next month.

Thanks for all your inputs,I was sceptical and you’ve convinced me that the standard set up is bang on.
All the very best chaps.
Regards
Lodgey.

Remus were very popular back in the day and we did the Y piece mod to many bikes... Either the cat or silencer are best kept for noise prevention though and as with the 11s it's amazing what that big lump in the he middle does for silencing on its own...
On 11s my favourite was the Remus mid box and silencer... Too loud is too loud and they sound shite and straight through boxers are not Ducatis after all...🤣

As other said, it gets very noisy.

I had an Y piece and Remus TItanium on my R1150R.
As Steptoe suggest, Y + original silencer is better (that's what I have on my 1200).

I strongly suggest the Laser eprom chip if you decat a 1150.

Did all of the different combinations on my first r1150gs Remus road, Remus race, cat , decat , standard pipe.

Best combination was either standard cat and Remus Road or decat Y piece and standard pipe.

On my current one it is staying with standard cat and pipe , I like quiet

I have a Staintune for a R1150GS sitting on the shelf and compared to the original muffler it weighs nothing.
Had a full Staintune system on my R80G/S and that sounded fantastic but not for long trips.
I've tried no pipe, cutting open the original muffler and removing the gubbins and replacing with a straight pipe but the older I get the more I appreciate the oem unit on my R1150GS

Generally the best solution IMHO is Y pipe and original exhaust. Not too loud, but engine is a bit quicker in revving up. I have this currently on my 1200.
On a 1150, as said above, install the eprom.

Just a word of warning from someone who did about 100k km on a Y + Remus setup.
There is risk of melting the Touring panniers with the Y pipe + Remus. You essentially have a straight pipe out. If anything goes a tiny bit off-centre, it'll start blowing on the panniers and, trust me, it's a pain in the ass.

Keep that in mind and add necessary "protection" where you need.

I had some issues with that in Portugal, many years ago:

Had to rivet the Fanta can in place. :)

I have been running the standard cat and a stubby for many years now. Not at all noisy but means that you can have equal sized panniers.
You can run equal sized panniers with a y-piece and Remus just as easily. A 35° short bend and a bracket to support the lower exhaust cost me as much as a stubby
