Repair of my Garmin Zumo 550

I just received my Zumo 550 back from Garmin, I was hoping that they might send me a Zumo 660 as some on here had said that they had got one. I will just have to settle for the Zumo 550.

Any indication from them as to the cause of the fault ?

Nothing said about any damaged or if it was repairable, just a new unit.

The reason I was interested was that the same thing happened to the 550 of a friend of mine and nothing I
could do would get it to turn on. He sent it back to Garmin hoping the €110 would net him a 660, instead
he got a 550 in pristine looking condition, funny thing was it had a load of waypoints from it's previous owner !!!!

So did he check out those waypoints - they might have been nice ladies ............
On the other hand....................:D

Zumo 500 Repair

Zumo 500 packed in, will not power up with or without the battery, reset attempted with no fix, contacted Garmin via email.

I was told they I would have return the unit for a fixed cost replacement and to phone to avail of this.

Rang support and was the told they do not support the unit and no fixed cost replacement was available:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Have to try get it repaired. Common problem I believe, not powering up.

If I were you I'd try ringing them again, I was told the same thing a few months ago by one "service advisor" and was told to post the unit to them by another. Worth a shot, but if all else fails DON'T bin it, the LCD/Digitizer, the battery and the unit case is worth something.

mine went tits up today :blast, on start up it gets to loading the maps then shuts down so i will be on the phone to Garmin on Tuesday :thumby:

phoned Garmin yesterday , and sent mine off to them today £110 for an exchange and my lifetime mapping moved to the new unit:thumb2 Happy Daze:beer:
