I had my 1150gs stolen last night, I managed to find and reclaim it after an hour, I've been really lucky (good tip, dont park outside your mates in toxteth again) after pushing the bike for 30 minutes to a mates garage, the only damage looks like the pin in the steering lock has been snapped, the ignition key cant be turned, and when you push the bike every so often the steering locks for a second, since the bike is an hour from where I am, is it just take off the top yoke, and drill the anti tamper bolts out, rethread the bolt hole then put it all back together?

Hi mate, if you need help getting it home, happy to assist, I have horsebox and horse trailer, my 1150gsa has been in both! My factories are in Knowsley and I live on Wirral island , Paul Rb

Im, is it just take off the top yoke, and drill the anti tamper bolts out, rethread the bolt hole then put it all back together?

Easiest way to remove the anti tamper bolts is drill a short hole about 4mm accross into the bolt head and hit a torq bit into it and undo. :thumb

thanks a lot for the offer of recovering the bike, much appreaciated, thanks for the advice steptoe, i've managed to take the top yoke off, sadly one of the bolt holes has snapped off the yoke, I only discovered this after i had phoned motorworks and placed an order for a few parts, I just need to find the instructions on removing the ignition key barrel, then hopefully it should be straight forward, Im lucky there could of been a lot more damage.

t I just need to find the instructions on removing the ignition key barrel,

Insert key into the ignition and turn it on. At the front of the ignition housing there's a "rib" running from top to bottom. Alongside the edge of the rib, about half way down (think it's on the L/H side of the rib) there's a small pin hole. Stick a thin pick, or a large pin into the hole and the key and barrel can then be pulled out.

thanks for the advice steptoe, i discovered the top yoke had one of the steering lock parts snapped, thats all been re tapped and repaired, I found the steering head bearings where a bit worn, so ive ordered new ones, so hopefully on monday evening i can bolt it all together.
thanks a lot for the advice
