Used the Quest in the car mount yesterday to go from S Wales to the South coast via M4 J17

On the way there, the quest re-booted itself three or four times as we approached the junction. It was p**sing down at the time so I mentally put it down to lightning somewhere, even though I couldnt see any

On the way back, it re-booted itself 5 times as it approached J17 from the south. Fine and dry at the time. Re-boots are noted in the track log with no distance travelled in between.

There was no looseness in the garmin cradle, no road bumps or jerks, and in any case the unti is set to stay on when power is lost. Oddly, it kept giving verbal route comments as it was re-booting.

Seems to me that I either have a unit problem or there is some weird (MOD?) electrical activity in that area. I suspect the first problem since it has re-booted itself a few times on the bike with no power lead attached.

Anybody found the same problem?

Both mine and my mates Quests did a double re-boot at exactly the same time and place in Aix-Les-Bains when we were in France this year so there is definitely something that broadcasts and causes a re-boot.

Any technical whizz like to have a guess?

Adam :)

Check the software used on the Quest unit.

Mine would do this re-boot thing regularly and would also fail to display the location arrow when "zoomed" in to some junctions and roundabouts.

Load version 3.30 and it should fix it.
