A friend has binned his already highly battered adventure today and done a bit more damage to his tank  . It now has a small dent in the left lobe bottom and one where hes mobile in his pocket impacted  to add to the previous few scratches and minor chips.

He is fine and bike is ok apart from additional damage to tank and engine bars. The paint is flaked off around the dent, and he wants the tank re-spraying, and if possible dent pulling out. He isnt bothered with a 100% perfect finish, hence not bothering to replace the tank. He just doesnt want any corrosion to start in on the exposed metal work.

So any got any recommendations for anyone who can respray a tank (possibley complete new colour) and what kind of price range for having it done? Help apprecaited by him.

Dream Machine quoted me £250+VAT for a standard GS tank in a single colour.

Didn't go for it :)

An interesting aside to this. When I had my tank dedented I asked the chap who did it how they do it these days. He said they use a Wurth glue stick that is applied with a heat gun and this becomes the fixing point for a slide hammer to pull the dent. When happy with the pulled dent they reapply the heat gun and slide the glue stick away leaving a slime to clean up with solvent. Fantastic how technology has advanced. They do not use heat or weld a stud on as the tanks on modern bikes are made from thin stretched metal and heat will distort the tank too much.

Of course he could have been giving me a wind up but seemed convincing.
