Just bought a used pair of air horns from a 3 Series BMW car off ebay, £10 the pair! Chose the higher sound one to fit to 17 1200gs, easy straight swap, the connectors are even the same! Took 10 mins. Thought it might be of interest to someone

brakes and anticipating are better than any horn

My horn only gets used once a year, at the mot. But not many people keep their new bikes for longer than 3 years anymore.

Yeah.

But the horn’s better than slamming on because some knobhead can’t be bothered to give way to a bike (or “didn’t see you, mate”)

And the BMW car horn from the scrapyard is far better than the horn fitted to the bike as standard. I use the low tone one. £5

I must be lucky. I ride most days in London, in the rush hour, quiet times and real dangerous times, riding home through the west end in the early hours of the morning with Uber drivers careering around picking up their pissed passengers :D , and I think last used the horn was a couple years ago, and that was to alert a driver who hadn’t noticed the lights had turned green and there was no room to ride him...... I have more problems with deliveroo riders overestimating their riding skills than car drivers. :D

I know where the horn button is with my licorice all sort switches, I have to think where to find it with the new style (modern) switches. So consequently it gets very little use, by the time I’ve found the switch it’s usually too late.

:blast

as i just said in another thread.

The only time i use my horn is by accident lol

cancel indicator...... beeeeeeeep!! "Oh shit"... rides off sheepishly lol

Funny how people approach a problem. I'm very pro-active with my horn and trust no-one coming out of a driveway. I mounted a pair of Hellas on each side of my beak and they really get people's attention. Bought on Amazon for about $25/pair. Plus I have the eHex programmed to flash my driving lights upon horn use so I get visual and audible. I've also put amber lens on my driving lights and they make you highly visible. Not sure if the amber on all the time is allowed in Euro countries but when I ride with my mates and look in the mirror, the ones with the amber lens can be seen a long ways back.
