Just to clarify. Are these complete replacement covers or do they fit on top of the original covers?
My brushed aluminium look plastic silver ones have taken some 'hits'. I priced up new ones from BMW and if I recall they were around £130 + each !!
100% and that reminds me that I need to get mine sprayed white and the bash plate and pillion pegs powder coated black.
How do the side panels come off? Is there a tutorial you followed?
They are a complete replacement part. You just have to swap the screw retaining plates, just pull off.
Siddo,
Really easy, I couldn’t find a guide anywhere. I meant to do a few photos but I was a bit tight on time.
I undid the top mount of the crash bars, loosened the two bolts at the joint and swung it out of way. Then there’s 3 small screws holding the plastic guard at front of rad, take that off. Then there’s another two small screws holding the cover itself on.
Here’s screws of the rad surround.
Those side panels and the seat frame look proper cheap and crappy in that nasty silver. I'm getting mine painted white to match my Trophy paint.
There's a recent thread somewhere where some guy got his seat frame painted for £80. Huge improvement.
In my case I removed my naff scratched satin black genuine BMW painted side panels and fitted a pair of new genuine BMW silver metallised plastic side panels. Not cheap even at trade price, if you want black ones I’d recommend to go Aliexpress.
