Replacing Paralever Driveshafts

i would love to know what twisted bastard thought it was a good idea to re-use the rubber bellows from the old twin shock & monlever bikes on the paralever.

what an absolute fucker of a job

got the driveshaft on the splines fairly easily, but the new bellows....AAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHH! :banghead:

just for a laugh (i needed one) i looked up the job difficulty rating in the hayne book of lies: 3 spanners. that must be 3 spanners thrown next door.

got to the torquing the pivots stage to find the bevel box/swing arm pivots are all notchy. took em out & went to local bearing shop. can't get them. FAG say they haven't made any in years???

ordered some from motorworks, so it will be middle of next week now :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

better make sure you buy the right one :D

buy one some idiot like me has spent a fortune on, and laboured at long into the night.

ps. mine's not for sale.

No options here really

Just to buy an old ex police Guzzi 1000 or G5 and transform it painfully. There's only two legal mk3 LM's in the country, and no chance to get hold of them.
Miky

can you not just buy one in europe & import to israel?

some import duty thing i guess.

It's possible

If a vehicle is more than 30 years old one can bring it into the country after paying 100% tax on it's value, determined by special interest vintage vehicles publications.

It's harder for me to lay out the cash out front, much easyer working and buying parts for it for a long period of time.

If you have a GS there's no time for re-building another bike surely ?
I'd just love to ride for several weeks in a row- still, it's running at present awaiting another spell of serious oathing in the garage, so while the sun shines so should I, it could be worse........................hang on ..........what's that on the horizon..............it looks like an old BM with some guy in a cloak with a sythe over his shoulder

Fritz mate, always moaning - just cos youve had a couple of minor "inconveniences".......

I´ll go now.

Cookie will try to see this LM III tonight, will let you know if I make another shit decision and buy another piece of motorcycling history.....

bob

go to it m8! mk3 is nice bike.

but......be warned.....if you buy a mk3 you'll always wish it looked as fab as a mk1 ;)

Yea, go for it, Spanish Bob

If you already ride an airhead you are a fucking romantican. So indulge in another nostalgic pieace, why not?

Old Guzzi 1000/850 are sturdy, some electrics are not so reliable but easily cured. I had a California3 for a few years, only broke its clutch cable every now and then. No problem - starting in first and changing gears like in motocross. Reached 200kph with all its bulk!
Oh, tears.
Miky

Oh yes, and better chassis than BMW's.

OK Mikey / Cookie, you have convinced me - just need to wine over my wife and bank manager!

I will see it on Thursday. Also love the 750 S/S3 but haven´t seen one for sale and they would not be as cheap as the Le Mans that is going at the moment.

more later

bob

that should say WIN over my wife , the wine thing was one of those Freudian slips.

Cookie if you could recomend some Patina polish or know of a good place to buy rose tinted specs, that would be great!
