Now then chaps.....shortly I will need to replace the rear disc, as it is getting worn out after 33000 miles. (1150, ABS, EVO)

Do I replace with original equipment, or do i go for a cast iron one from, say, Motorworks, which look to be appreciably cheaper?

What say you? Any experiences?

Yes I have done a search and could find nowt

Cheers

I put a o/e on, but it looks like it's getting worn again, will go for the cheaper disk next time.
There was a thread on some guys that do a very good one for the GS.

I would be very wary of going down the cast iron discs.

I purchased a pair for the front on my Adventure 18 months ago and was very happy with them, until I noticed one morning the bike would not rock off the main stand. Then it did it again, and again, and AGAIN!

It transpired that there was a seizing of the calipers due to excessive build up of brake dust caused by the iron discs, and it was preventing the pistons from releasing, thereby gripping the discs and preventing the bike from rolling off the centre stand. Every morning I was having to spray brake cleaner to get rid of it. I had on two occasions to get by bike collected via breakdown recovery because I couldn't get thew bike off the stand. Needless to say Motorworks said they had had no problems with them, but somehow I find that very hard to believe. Anyway, they took them back and supplied me with OE ones. No problem since.

Be warned.

Cast iron discs

Your bike gets disc dust all over it, which then turns rust coloured, along with your boots and clothing
