Replacing the tank after changing Alt belt..

I followed Steptoe's wonderful instructions and changed the alternator belt whilst doing the full service on my 02 Adv today.

One problem I found when replacing the tank - the clearance between the Alt body and the Engine casing was smaller with the new belt on, and the QD connector for the tank cross over wouldn't fit back through

I had to drop the alternator belt back off, remove the new belt to get enough clearance to get the connector through.

Just as a warning if anyone else is planning on doing this job themselves.

Why take take the tank off I dident?, I should check the tanks in the right position, there are two types of belt one is longer could this be the problem? wrong belt fitted check it against the one you took off.

Belt's the same (611mm), tank was off to change the fuel filter,

Next time I'll do the jobs separately...
