Hey all, this is a great forum, especially the touring travel subforums. I did two trips across Italy and wish I had come across this forum earlier.
Anyway, a week or two ago I installed a resonator delete pipe on my 2019 BMW F750GS.
Pros:
More base, more growl, more volume
Not enough volume that I wouldn't take it touring
Easy install, nothing tricky or hard
Can be returned back to original in under 10 minutes
Saves about 7 lbs of weight
OEM muffler still in place means it's still getting good silencing and backpressure
No error codes, bike is still smooth when I want it to be, and snappy when I want it to be
Resonator is located after the catalytic converter so no additional polluting if you're an environmentalist
Costs $36
Cons:
Heat shield I could only install if I installed the left bolt before the right bolt
Heat shield rubs up on the delete pipe itself
Does not come with a grommet so I just cut one to fit
Here is a video for those interested:
These are the timestamps in case you don't want to watch the whole thing and just want to see the part(s) you're interested in:
0:33 Installation
1:25 How To Get It For $1 (or $36)
3:44 Before Vs. After Comparison
5:30 Negative Impacts
6:22 Engine Codes / Errors
7:07 Do I Like It? / Should You Get It?
Things I can't comment on:
I have no idea how long this thing will or won't last, but over the course of talking to people about the resonator delete mod I came across a guy who happily reports over 60,000 km on his.
A couple users reported better fuel consumption.
