Restaurants on the Brittany Ferries Salamanca - Portsmouth - Santander

Has anyone taken this crossing lately, leaving Portsmouth 10pm local time?

If so, were any of the restaurants open? I’ve a memory the last time we took this crossing 2-3 years ago Azul was closed and we got some terrible Tapas in the bar, but I can’t really remember.

Our sailing is next Friday 4th.

I’m literally on it now. Set off 2200 last night.

Azul was closed, but Taberna was open. I didn’t use either as have commodore club access. However, the offerings in the commodore club were also very limited.

Breakfast this morning in the commodore club was pretty decent.

Pretty sure it was open in June when we sailed, we’d already eaten at a pub down the road so didn’t use it.

As an aside I think they have gone down hill in recent years, the food in both restaurants is poor imho. When we go to Spain in October I’ll be taking a cool bag full of food and wine to ensure I can avoid using the restaurants on board.

Buy a roast chicken with peas and roast tats and take it with you - along with any other tasty gooddies!

Sounds familiar. Not been impressed with the catering on the new ships compared to the Pont Aven from Plymouth.

When we went to St Malo last year, my group assembled at Port Solent as we were travelling from Wales, Shropshire & Essex. We all refuelled at the nearby Tesco then got some food at one of the many restaurants on the Boardwalk. My son lives near there and he recommended Koh Thai which we enjoyed. Lots of other choices from 'spoons to a Steak & Lobster place. We had a 10 min ride/drive to the port to check in about 30 mins before they closed.

It's not rocket science.
Wrap up in foil, then freezer zip lock bag ( after portioning it! 2 legs & 2 breasts and veg ' no carcass. Job dine!

I also always take the components for a full english and cook it in my cabin on a dual hob gas burner .
Makes a fabulous start to the holiday .

In my case it’s a bowl of cereal & a freshly ground coffee although next time I may slum it and buy coffee from the bar and take it back to the cabin.
