retail therapy needed - suggestions?

Hi all,

off to France /Italy on the 10th September for a week blasting around and camping...

I fancy spending some dough (not too much)

So, what one thing should I buy for my 1200 ? (and don't say an 1100 / 1150 etc....:augie)

I have crash bars, luggage and some hand guard deflector things (must fit those at somepoint)

So, ideas???

Obviously given the time scales, tourtwat is out :D

contact Chunk on here, he makes some lovely little bits and pieces that finish the bike off.....cheaper than TT when I bought off him....:thumb
 
Spare Fuel pump controller and spare ring antenna, and the tools to fit them.
 
If you'r optimistic about the weather then buy lots of good red wine while you'r away. If not, buy a decent rear mudguard to stop your boots filling with water.

Apart from that, i'd go HID or auxillary lights:thumb:thumb

Wilbers shocks are the best bit of farkle going, but not cheap and probably not available in time.

Save your pennies for them later perhaps?
 
Another vote for a HID conversion here :)

I'm saving up for some Wilbers myself so going by what loads of peeps on here have said I guess that would have to be number two on the list.

Sat Nav -- found mine invaluable on both our trips to France, will save you hours and hours of map reading.
 
Never mind the bike,

look after the pilot and invest your money in BEER.........
 
after much thought and contemplation (plus a few wines last night :beer:)

I have discounted the HiD's cos that is something I keep meaning to do, but will do myself (but dont have time before the trip)

Beer is an essential option anyway... so taken as read :beerjug:

Wilburs... one day... one year... will wait another year or so for this one :thumb

Sat Nav... well call me old fashioned but I quite like a map... it gives me the option of getting lost and discovering new places.. sat navs aren't very good at this :rolleyes:

So, Stash Plate it is then... plus maybe some headlamp.oil cooler guards :thumb:thumb:thumb

Safe journey then Nate, hope you have fun getting lost in Europe unless your French and Italian are good maybe another option is a phrase book. If you have as much fun as we had end of July it will be a journey to remember.

Slight thread hijack................

I quite agree, and for many years that was my argument for not getting one.............but...........I finally succumbed and have discovered the GPS equivalent of getting lost with a map and it's great.

Set your GPS to shortest route rather than quickest route and hey presto you will be taken along all sorts of minor roads / tracks and discover places you never knew existed before. I use it loads around the Dales up here and am still coming across places I have never been to before!

It's great when you are on holiday and in an area you don't know. The beauty is that you can do it all day long knowing that at any stage you can switch to 'get me home' with with no worries.

I've been converted!

Plus 1:thumb2 Worked a treat in Hungary and Slovakia this year. It found roads that weren't on any maps we had, and took us o out of the way places we'd never have seen.
