Has anyone fitted oem bmw spotlights to a gsa that didnt have on original spec. Just wanting to know cost for a friend. Or is it cheaper to fit some aftermarket ones

It is possible but hugely expensive....and they are pants TBH.

They're all plastic and have a habit of snapping very easily, even if you drop the bike and don't hit the lamps, their weight is often enough to snap the plastic bracket

The first thing we do when bikes arrive on one of our off-road tours fiotted with them is take them off- seriously!


Go for aftermarket ones- much cheaper and much stronger

... A pretty standard GS set-up - Hella Micro DE dip-beam (spot/flood not fog), Hella FF50 Main beam, Migsel light bar
... 10amp+ switching relays (20amp better ), cable, shrink sleeve, in-line fuse holders or a Centech AP-1 fuse-panel, PIAA waterproof switches, self-amalgamating tape.
... Tools to suit

... A combination of Nippy Norma's, Auto Electric Supplies and Migsel can supply all the bits.

... Touratech, Wunderlich and a couple of others offer kit form packs
... If you're savvy enough, fabricate your own mounts and get some cheaper 'Ring' spotlights from your local Motorists Discount Centre and you can have the budget alternative

... Search out BTBR, he used to do supply and fit, maybe you can tempt him out of retirement

... Be prepared to be swamped by vendors of HID systems and myths of having melted Skodas with their solar intensity.

... Personally I'm very happy with the reliability, flexibility and performance of extra spotlights and poo-poo the HID sales puff. This is my original BTBR install which I transferred to my new bike
