I plan to retrofit a 2007 GSA to a 2009 GS. I love the GS (I had 6 of them) and my last one is a 2007 GSA full options. I love it but I feel it a bit too heavy, to bulky, to high and not as fun as the 1200 GS that I didn't like before the 2008 evolution. I don't have the ESA option that didn't exists in 2007 and wich I realy like..
I mainly ride in town, smaal roads, some highway but not that much...
What do you think of that?
Is the GS more funy that the GSA? And is the 2008 model more punchy that the 2005 model?

And does anybody know when the 1200 GS model will be renewed...

I would like to feel more sensations on my bike...

Best regards.

You plan to retrofit what?

I would like to feel more sensations on my bike...

Ride naked, that should do it.

Retrofit is not the exact term indeed. It's more decrease the weight, the protection but increase pleasure... :)

:nenau
You want to convert a GSA into a GS spec bike....... I must of banged my head today...!
Why not buy a GS in the first place?

Timpo.

Do you mean change from an 07 GSA to an 09 GS? Personally speaking if BMW hadn't made the GSA I'd be riding around on a KTM 950 Adventure. I'm not that keen on the GS :augie

Yes the 08 is 'more punchy' than an 05 :thumb

I think u mean trade in a 07 gs for a 09 gsa -good move if you mean put bits on a 07 gs to some how make it into a 09 gsa I think that would be a step too far. If you intend doing the upgrade it would make an intersting series of very long posts. Dont let me put you off JJH

perhaps he could fit it with flares the're quite retro,or paint it black and white

No I want to trade a 1200GSA 2007 for a 1200GS 2009.
Excuse my bad English... :)

My dealer offers me 12.000 € for my 2007 full option GSA BUT without ESA.

But I fear that the 1200 GS model will change next year...

I am sure it will change next year or 6 months or 2 years sometime complete new model or new lights who knows? just take the plunge look at what a gs 1100 is worth or a 1150 or a 20 year old gs100 they hold their value JJH

No one can give me some real advices? Am'I the only guy who experienced that the GSA is a wonderfull bike but a bit too bulky?

yes I perfer gsa but if u like the gs go for it get the best deal u can and good luck with it. Let us know how u get on JJH

I've had 5 or 6 GS in the past wich I loved. When the GS 1200 came on the market, I feel it to "small" and dislike the cosmetic look and ordered the GSA but I realy think that the 20 or more kg make it less funny to ride. And with the fuel. It's is like a passenger... ;-)
The 5 pk more of the new GS, the weight difference, the ESA an Akra exhaust will make the bike very different and I mainly ride in town or small roads....

My GSA is 2 years old and out of warranty and I think the model won't change within 2 years... I hope so...

So you are stuck.

You do not like the 1200GS, as it's too small and not styled properly.

You like the look of the 1200GSA but don't like the weight. But most of the weight comes from the look (bigger tank, heavier luggage).

But maybe not all is lost?

You had lots of the earlier GS's which you loved. Sell your 1200GSA (or grow bigger muscles) and buy a second hand 1150 or 1100 - or even some other bike. Problem solved.

Beyond that? Nobody here can help you with what you like or dislike for what are only personal reasons.

Hey,

I think you have to sell your GSA to a friend who appreciate it :)

Cheers ;)
