Any advice, tips on getting the best deal. Two of us going to stay with friends in August. Aware that that month is likely to be the priciest, holiday season and all.

When to book? Don't want to pay over the odds. Via the web? Directly with the airlines? ..... any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks.

Try here!

This company always seems to have good deals - not Air Canada but should get you there in one piece.

http://www.flyzoom.com/

Vancouver is by far my favourite city - enjoy yourselves!

Have flown with both Canadian Affair & FlyZoom but another one to consider is www.airtransat.com.
All 3 offer cheap flights and that time of year IS the most expensive. Don't be fooled by the "Flights from £XXX" as with all the extras you have to pay it'll be a lot more e.g. I'm flying out to Calgary on Feb 17th. Stated price was £300. With all the 'green taxes, airport taxes, tax taxes it's turned out to be £444!
I was told that BA were doing cheaper flights but this along with Air Canada is an aberration. Shop around is the usual advice.

Have a great trip :thumb

I like ebookers.com - according to a mate in the trade it uses the same backbone as the system used by many travel agents. The initial prices they quote on the screen include all of the taxes you have to pay, unlike some others who only add this after several click throughs.

Ask the search engine to give you details of non-direct flights too - sometimes taking a short flight to say Amsterdam and then onto your final destination can work out cheaper, or more convenient if you can start your journey from somewhere other than London Gatwick/Heathrow. Likewise, flying into a US hub then onto BC might work out cheaper.
