Hello!

Thinking of getting a 2013 800GS to get back to my biking dream!

Planning on a daily commute of 50 mls each way! & light touring at W/E & a Europe tour some day! & poss a little off road!

Any thing to watch out for? and will it meet my needs? what would be the best screen I'm 5'10'' and would prob go for the low seat too!

Cheers

Good choice and I think the standard screen will suit you just fine (well as fine as can be, as none of them are really perfect!!!) enjoy..

Standard seats are like a plank of wood, standard screen is pretty small, but there are loads of aftermarket ones available.

Standard chain & sprockets aren't amazing, - I got 17k out of mine then put DID ones on.

You might like the OEM tyres, mine was on Bridgestone Battlewings (2009 F800GS) and I got rid of them as soon as I could, tried Tourance and now run Conti Trail Attack 2, bloody love em!

They're a great bike, like all models they have their faults - mine's having new headstock bearings again this week, that seems to be the main issue with em.

Get the GSA screen fitted - much, much better than the standard screen. Not cheap though but very good.

Great bikes, good choice .... go for it :thumb

Nearly 112,000 miles on mine now (2008 model) and as sweet as the day it came out of the crate. No corrosion, no issues ... :D

:beerjug:

Swap the seat, the bearings and the chain/sprocket and it's good to go round the world.

Welcome to the fold.
The 800 is a great bike with just a couple of things needing to be sorted.
Change the seat (I have a Sergeant seat on mine)
If its got Bridgestones on CHANGE THEM NOW!! You know a tyre isn't great when even the tyre fitters call them "DeathWings"
I'm currently on a set of Tourance Next and following from my experience with Conti TrailAttacks am getting a set of TrailAttack2's put on before our trip to France in June.
The GSA screen is certainly better than the OE screen, but its 'kin expensive. I have a an Italian made screen similar to the BM Touring screen, but is taller and wider, that I got direct from WRS Accessori Moto in Italy for 99 euros including delivery.
+1 on the DID chain.
Enjoy the bike, make it yours with what ever you might change, and watch out for the numpties in them tin boxes.
