Buying a second hand stainless steel remus system. The end can is a vision of loveliness, and the pipe is mellowed a goldy/yellow colour.

How do i bring the pipes back to their former glory, will it last, and is it worth it ?? :nenau

I suspect i'll do it even if it's a temporary measure, as it'll make me think i got a bargain..........

Wonderwheels seemed to work for me, removes the brown stain on the pipes, can't remember it it helped with the heat stain though! :nenau

Wonder wheels is quite powerful so dont get it on your engine paint and protect surfaces all around from splashing

Gloves and goggles recomended

Shep :bounce1

Stainless pipes are almost certain to revert back to that golden straw colour with use.....it`s part of their visual appeal to me,as is the rainbow blueing you get on Titanium headers.

If you haven't fitted them yet why not have them polished first and then let them colour up naturally.

You could also get them ceramic coated.......but it won`t be super cheap....

I cleaned my Adv headers with a polishing kit, it has three mops you run from a drill with different 'soaps' starting with the coarse and finishing with fine.
It worked well on my headers, is it worth it .... they obviously will revert back when repeatedly heated, but i prefere to clean then up now and again .
If your can is only yellowed would only take 10 mins with mops

The picture is a before and after

solvol & ali foil is supposed to work too.

it'll just go back to straw colour when you use it though.

Pomm, that's quite a difference!!

Tarka, thanks for the advice a couple of weeks ago. Took the plunge today, as i said the can looks bob on, just the pipe looking 'mellow'....nowhere near what Pomm's looks like there tho'.

I think i'll bring it back up with the autosol and buffer, fit it, then never look back.

Thanks guys :beerjug:

save yourself some work: never look down.

One of those "Scratchy" pads used for rubbing paint down and WD40 works a treat - then use Solvol to take the light scratching out.
