Reverse fitted. (and it works)

As I age, as we all do, I was becoming less appreciative of pushing 60 stone of Milwaukee's finest uphill backwards into it's garage. I did some research. In an ideal world I would have won the lottery and bought a Baker F6R reverse gear and fitted it ( more likely had someone else do it as it is very expensive and quite "invasive".
There are a few electric systems on the market.......again did some research, and yes you've guessed it.....shite. (Even the new Goldwing manual with electric reverse {not DCT, that is faultless} is having nightmares apparently.
So, I did some more research and bought a manual reverse (direct from the U.S....easy peasy) and fitted this......works a treat and my knees went to church and prayed for my eternal salvation.


It looks like it grew there.

(P.S. It also comes in BLACK for those of us that think the standard "Specials" are a cut above.

This is the Eurowing MMD reverse kit. Basically, you have the bike running in neutral, pull in the clutch, pull back the lever in the pics which engages the kit's cogs which turns the gearbox backwards, let out the clutch (on tickover if you have any sense) and you go backwards.
There are a few about using a similar principle, mostly adopted by firms making trikes from 2 wheelers.

I'll take your word for it, I don't think I've ever seen one of those on the road. I have seen one in a vehicle museum though......along with some equally ancient steam engines.

That's slightly off-piste...

The Messerschmitt reversed by running the 2-stroke engine backwards - activated by indenting the ignition key before turning to start.

Others, like the Champ and DAF Variomatic cars etc, still had the engine running in the usual direction of rotation.

Most big ship engines (at least the direct drive ones) can run both ways, they have a way of changing the cam timing.

I imagine leaving it in reverse would be an extremely effective scrote deterrent. Providing you remember of course…

It would indeed but has an interlock on it which cuts the engine off if you accidentally try to go into a forward gear whilst the reverse is engaged. Of course, you could just un plug that!

You would have to have feet the size of barges or clown’s feet to do that…….oh hang on!

Seriously though if your feet are anywhere round that area you are probably in the process of falling off the bike anyway.
