:) the patch pockets on the dakars are waterproof, the zip pockets aren't sold as such but I've not had anything get wet in them so far;)

They are much roomier.
I am doing the Calum's road trip bought the Dakar pant but wanted more room!!!
There is a waterproof liner but no insulation. M&S fleece long johns work for me when I ski.
There are 2 zip pockets, the front of the leg seems breathable, will drop a note in tomorrow after a ride out.

I quite fancy the idea of removeable thermals, but not the end of the World.

I'd be interested on your opinion of the Turbines, in anger, thanks :thumb

:D I really like my Rev'It stuff, but I've now had two pairs of trousers go in the same place (crotch), now both have been handled brilliantly with no fuss etc, but it's still two failures,
if you like the layered systems can I suggest also looking at the Lindstrands stuff, I seriously considered changing to these before Rev'It gave the nod for a replacement pair of trousers, and indeed still might !

Lindstrands

I partic like the GI pants and the Graffiti jacket...similar money to the Rev'It stuff as well..

My Dakar Trousers have got a removable thermal liner although I've never ridden with it in. Overall good trousers that have never let any water in although I must confess I've ridden with them on mainly in the dry.

Looked at this gear before. Not sure about the design/pattern, but looks and sounds like veray capable pieces of kit. Definitely on the consideration list:thumb

Mind yoy, do the GI pants go inside or outside the boots? Looks like inside (which I don't like) but difficult to tell from the picture.

Yeah, I'm only changing as the waterproof kit I bought, isn't! In a row with the manufacturers, but I'll get a refund :thumb

I just begrudge spending nearly £400 on something that isn't up to scratch, so need to make sure my next purchase is monsoon-proof, and possibly good enough for deep-sea diving...

The turbine trousers fit over my Sidi Crossfires and roomy me like.

yeah, my rev-it dakar pants have leaked and been replaced, but are still doing so. i don't think they've quite figured out how to seam the crotch area. honestly, you get what you pay for. halversons (lindstrands), rev-it's stuff etc, all claim to produce waterproof suits. the only answers to 'is it monsoon proof' seems to be the hein gericke master, a twat suit, or the rukka stuff (from my internet research and friends who ride in an assortment of these). sadly all of these are ridiculously expensive, but if you live in ireland and ride all year, water-proof gear is a sort of non-negotiable.
