Rev'It Summer Clothing

Off to the US in September when it's going to be hot so have been looking at summer mesh suits. Looked at the HG stuff and tried the Rev'It gear as well.

Rev'It fitted well and as it is available in my local dealer I think that is the way to go.

Has anyone any experience of the Air or Typhoon jackets and the Mistral or Challenge tousers?

A friend of mine recently bought a Buffalo Mistral Summer Jackets which he wore on a trip to Spain and reported that it was excellent and very well made - more so considering the price!

I have the Rev'it mesh jacket (not sure exactly which model, it's about 18months old and is a sort of dark green and grey colour) which I find excellent. My pal has one with the waterproof lining as well - I didn't bother as it was too dear, and it works well. I rode through Spain and France last summer using it with one of those thin EDZ windproof things underneath in the mornings & evenings and just took a waterproof one-piece for the wet bits. Worked well but I'm not sure how it would stand up in an off.
Haven't tried the legs.

Top bit of kit in terms of breathability (?). It's like a tea- bag.... full of little perforations. So if you want to be cool, then this certainly works. It also has Knox armour in the shuolders and elbows. The back protector is a little foam jobbie, and should be replaced with a pucker one.

As mentioned in an earlier post, if it's a cool day, or early morning / late evening ou may need something underneath, and the EDZ stuff worked a treat for me.

If it rains you will get Very Very wet, as there is no waterproof component (at least not with mine), so take a waterproof overjacket just in cse.

I used it in spain this year and the temps ranged from wet and 3-9 degrees, through to dry and 32 plus.

I got the light coloured one (matches the silver / red GS adventure colours) but it gets dirty very quickly.

I got an Alpinestars T-Magnum jacket from J&S Accessories for £80.

Great jackets, that don't allow the armour in the elbows and shoulders to move about too much - so should stay in place if you come off the bike. It has a removable waterproof liner inside.

The breathable mesh appears to be very strong and a lot more confidence-giving than the mesh that holds the BMW Rallye jacket sleeves together (when you undo the zips) - which you could spit pees through

I just used my existing HG Leather vented trousers from a race suit (used to ride a crotch rocket), so nothing special. But I thought the leather would give more protection than a thin mesh pair of trousers from any stones being thrown up from the (sometimes dodgy) spanish roads. It also meant that in the event of a damp road, I didn't need to worry immediately about stopping to put on waterproofs, as the screen goves some protection for the top half of my body, but I find that my legs suffer from spray.

They have a short zip in the back, and i got the missus to sew in the matching part to the jacket.

That worked quite nicely.

Just got my off track - in yellow - jacket from the states.
Cheaper even with the p&P and was not available in the UK untill September - in Megga F*T Bast**d size.

... jacket for a while, but then changed it for a longer style one. Good well made piece of kit in 'extra fat biker' with a detachable thermal liner. Would go well with a Black/Grey/Yellow 1200 if someone was to make me an offer. Can't find any 'name' on it other than the Rev'it brand name.

Looks a lot like the "Triumph" one that I have....... is it waterproofed with Sympatex liner?

'Cos with a soft foam back protector you might well get some pucker at your ring in an off <g>.

I have a Fieldsheer mesh jacket that has excellent armour in elbows, forearms, shoulders and back. It comes with both a thermal liner and an waterproof over-jacket. Got it at Beaulieu for £20!

Bought some Buffalo mesh pants this summer, and managed to persuade my mother to sew a joining zip that matches the jacket into the pants.

Midn you, since I bought the trousers we seem to have been living with a deluge and not much heat <sigh>.

I've recently bought the REV'IT Cayenne Jacket and Dakar Trousers and am incredibly impressed with them. Although cant speak for the venting as its done nothing but rain since I bought it I can say it seems to be fantastic kit overall. Wore it out on saturday and it kept me dry apart from a bit of water that blew up my sleeves.

I've got a Spidi summer jacket, with both front panels being meshed. In temps we've had here recently it's been a godsend. It came with armour in elbows and shoulders but I had to buy a back protector seperately. It also comes with a body liner for when weather is a little chilly or early morning starts.

ive got the revit off track jacket and dakar pants

nice kit but not in the slightest bit waterproof IMO

I have recently done 5 days in Scotland and a day of monsoon conditions back from Newcastle and London and eachtime It let in water around the crotch area which is right where you dont want it, its good enough in light rain and great in the heat as the vents work well but ive been wet 3 times now and although the weather has been poor ( to say the least ) Im not 100% satisfied and at £400 for the suit its not that cheap either,

Oh and my pre ordered extra back protector still hasnt arrived 4 weeks after ordering
