RID…engine oil temperature, R1100GS

my engine oil temperature indicator keeps going blank.

the bike is a 1995 R1100GS

every time I start riding, the temperature indicator seems to work as expected, gets up to 3 or 4 bars, but normally after 5 to 10 minutes all the bars disappear

sometimes they come back on, but never for long

anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

If it's like the fuel gauge issue it will be corrosion in a connector... 'fraid I dunno which one though...

Try the connector where the rid joins the main harness. When the temp indicator played up on mine this was the culprit. It could also be a connector to the oil temp sensor.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit; irony is much better, but pathos is a real no-no, especially with the dire financial position of Greece.
