Anyone had the RID showing full bars, including clock showing 8888. This shows constantly even when ignition turned off.
I've pulled fuse 3 and this blanks out the rid, but when you turn on the ignition the RID shows all black bars.
Tried searching the internet, but nothing identifying the fault.
The RID has been opened by a previous owner so may just be a faulty RID.
Anyone know a solution to this.
Not my bike, and a new battery has been installed as there appears to be a drain somewhere in the system.
I've also stripped and cleaned the starter motor which was in good condition and the plate was secure and like new.

Try disconnecting the fuel tank electric block connector on the right hand side and see what happens. The fuel gauge sender wears over time so when full the pointometer doesn't make contact at full and does weird stuff to the rid. The fix was to bend the pointometer so contact is re made.
