Have done a few rides lately with lots of water about where i've been through some relatively deep muddy puddles (strata florida, ox drove) and it wasnt until i went to clean my air filter (TT foam one) that i found muddy water sitting in the bottom of the airbox. i hadnt realised that the drain from the air box needs some manual intervention (previous bike were self draining) anyway pulled the plug out of the drain tube (hanging on the lhs of the cylinder) and nothing came out .. basically the drain tube was clogged up and needed to be cleaned out as well. so just a heads up ... in future i will be checking more regularly, as you can imagine the filter was filthy but at least it was the foam version and not the paper one.

Good tip:thumb

Any pics of the airbox & drain tube, would be good

Drain tube hangs down beside the cylinder head, behind the frame on the left side. It is a clear plastic tube with a black bung in the bottom.

There should be a black plastic trim covering the radiator cap. Mine was missing when I bought the bike. I noticed I was getting quite a bit of water in the airbox, just from road spray on wet roads. I fitted a new trim piece and had no further problems until that cover also went awol. When fitting my 2nd replacement trim I drilled 2 small holes, 1 in the trim, 1 in the rad cover and secured it in place with a zip tie.

Me too....................I read somewhere that this could fall off and lead to water in the airbox, so I ziptied it and haven't had any issues

The air intake is pretty high up :thumb

i'll take a pic at the weekend when i've got a bit more light. I've got the TT rad cover with the rubber trim secured to the but still get the water in. Craig Bounds recommended putting some exhaust packing material in the inlet to the airbox but i dont have any to try that.
