A thought...

I was playing about with various routes after Neil (agent2494) posted his taster. I plotted that in and it seems fine, except for using the Chunnel. I would imagine that there are a few of us from further up the country who would prefer to go Hull-Europort.
There are a several good reasons for this…
1. It avoids the awful ride down and around London to Folkstone.
2. It means you can have a good night’s sleep on the ferry, giving you a fresh, early start in the morning.
3. Although the ferry may be more expensive, it’s a couple of hundred less boring miles to ride before meeting up at the first night’s stop, if that's what we decide to do.
Almost certainly, there will need to be more than one group for the ride down to Bulgaria... some will want to camp, some won’t want to ride motorways etc. etc.
As I’ve already indicated, instead of coming straight back from Bulgaria, I would like to carry on to Turkey and come back through the Balkans.. byron has indicated thus, maybe others?

I'm on an '07 1200 Adventure :bow

Having sold my trusty and well used 1200GSA last year (went on Bilko's first trip to Alaska as well as a few others) - I now ride a BMWF800GT which is a bit lighter and more 'flickable' to ride.

1150GS for me (Non GSA)

I am able to take up to 4 weeks off work for a one time long distance european tour next year and want to visit as many countries as I can during this trip. I would be interested in your trip, but not blasting down motorways to get there. I am in Scotland so would be a ferry from Newcastle to Holland then south through:
Belgium, France, Switzerland and Austria (The Alps), Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herz, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey (Istanbul), Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary (Friends in Budapest), Slovakia, Poland, Czech Rep, Germany and home...
This is not a route, just an overview of the trip:

Yes.. that's the kind of route I'm thinking of.. and no motorways, perfect :thumb
It's a pity you didn't post a week earlier.. I've been in Scotland wet weather testing my bike and gear for the past week, we could have met up and had a chat.
Whatever happens, I'm up for that ride.. keep me posted.

To all will be sorting routes very soon with dates plus options for bike transport if people can have 3-4 weeks off work

Hi Guys Zedos/Ballistic what's your preference camping or cheap hotels, I would prefer cheap hotels to save carrying extra weight and
Like your suggested route.

Norrie

Hi can you put me on your list as I quite fancy doing the trip again as I biked it down to Sunny Beach a few years ago to look at property. Went via Phoenix Rally in Czech Repuplic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia.

Just seeing if anyone is up for a ride down to Bulgaria next year, will take around 3-4 days getting own there and stay around a week at my house (swimming pool, sauna and loads of beer) have a good ride around Bulgaria on some very twisty roads then back home.

you inbox is full and i cant send you a message :)

Cheap hotels/hostals is always my preference for Europe.
I totally agree with you, less stuff to carry.. and much more civilised than camping if the weather's bad.
I would add Transfagaras to the suggested route

I had always planned on taking a tent, that way I have more options...
Too much gear?
1 x pants
1 pair socks
1 T-shirt
toothbrush...
Did I miss something?

Oh yeah my flexible friend ;-)

I was on iOS 9 yesterday and it was fine but some apps were giving problems. Today iOS 9.0.1 is out and seems to have solved a lot of not all my iOS 9 problems. Try upgrading and see if it helps.
