Had time for a quick blast yesterday afternoon, in such glorious Spring weather which made a nice change

Decided to take the XChallenge (because the GSA's aren't taxed:blast)

Ventured in and around Sutton Bank, Rievaulx and the North Yorkshire Moors - some of my favourite riding areas

Spring Daffodils

Sutton Bank - England's largest inland cliff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Bank

After riding through Helmsley, I ventured high up onto the surrounding Moors, into Bransdale

The weather & subsequent views.............. were spectacular

Near Cockayne...................the 12c St Nicholas Church was open, so I decided to have a mooch

It really is pretty remote up there and the old Church was the focus of a small country community - worth a visit to read about the history

Then back to Helmsley, via Kirkbymoorside, ..............for an ice cream

So just a short 2-3 hour ride, with a couple of green lanes thrown in for good measure....................nice to feel the warm sun on your back

Thanks for a nice write up & pretty pics JB
Sadly I was on call at the weekend but did manage squires for an hour

Do you know when the woodland daffodil display is at farndale(?)
I only found out about it last yr & I've heard it's a beautiful sight

According to the Farndale website....www.farndale.org/daffy.htm

DAFFODIL INFORMATION

UPDATE 05/03/2012:

The snowdrops are fading and leaves of the daffodils are growing fast but it is still likely to be a couple more weeks before the first are in bloom and end of March or beginning of April before they breach their peak.

I'll leave my trailride through there for another couple of weeks then :-)
