Last year I went out on Remembrance Day and at 11.00 spent the 2 minutes silence near Newchurch on the Romney Marsh next to the grave of Pilot Office Arthur William Clarke. http://www.doverwarmemorialproject.org.uk/Information/Jottings/People/Arthur Clarke.htm

As a good reason for a ride and also a good day out and you have the inclination, join me for a ride down from Maidstone to pay our respects there again. Meet at 08.45 at Junction 5 on the coastbound side of the M20 for a prompt start to ride down

So starting at 09.00 so that we are where we are going in good time for 11.00, we can have a pleasant ride along a route still to be run (that will be this weekend then!). I'll report on the route and the types of roads and any interesting (dodgy) bits:D:D

From Newchurch make our way to Dungeness for some lunch and make our minds up what to do - back together or on our own (assuming I won't be on my own:D)

See you at junction 5.

Starting point as map

Ride out

I was on the same ride last year Kev and really enjoyed it. Count me in for this one too. Couldn't get to the Plough last week, how did it go?

Different route this time.......................

I was on the same ride last year Kev and really enjoyed it. Count me in for this one too. Couldn't get to the Plough last week, how did it go?

Route being tried this weekend.

Eynsford was a very select group - four of us but the same old bollox:D

See you next Sunday then:thumb2

Ran the route today......................

.........................with Jacko trying to keep up:D

IMOHO a good enough route for the event:thumb

Roads were clear, the lanes muddy from farm vehicles, loads of puddles and a couple of places where water was running across the road from earlier rainbut we didn't get a single drop from the sky but a lot of wet splashed and sprayed up as we passed.

There is a personal needs break at Woodchurch so no need for incontinence pads:eek:

If you are coming along next Sunday - make it for 09.00 so that we can leave a bit later - perhaps take a flask in case we get to the memorial early.

Refer to post 1 for the map - junction 5 coastbound M20. I'll be getting there for 9.

If the weather next week is as good as it was today it will be fantastic.

See you there then:thumb2:thumb2

Ride out

Did Jacko remember his sidestand today :D
Must be old age :rob

Got it in one Neil, think I've got the problem nailed though. I've taped a check list onto my windshield, called "things to remember", sidestand down is at the top of the list!!
Just for info, it's a good route, really enjoyable, not too demanding with slurry filled lanes as there usually is, and I'm looking forward to going again next week. Shame that Woodsie bloke rides so bloody fast though, power sliding round bends!!!!

Bumpety bump bump

Now I enjoy the company of Jacko so don't get me wrong here..................

I know I haven't done a ride out for a few months (neither has anyone else mind:augie) So lots of viewers but only Jacko able to put his name down.

Weather looks like it may be a goodun - although a tad chilly of course - must be the time of year:D

Hope to see a few more on the day.

Just to let you know there's already another route in the can and hopefuly some more will be prepared over the winter...............................I've got the bug for rides out back - just load up BaseCamp and leave me to it.................

To whoever is going tomorrow ... have a great time.
I will be thinking of you when I am sitting in the curry house having lunch after attending my local parade/service.

Thanks Joe. . . . . . .

We will be waiting for our nosh at the same time.

See you at the next one:thumb2

How does he do it, that Woodsie? We all (Brenchleyhibs, Woodsie and I) met at the appointed place and time, and set off for the memorial on the Romney Marsh. Meandering along the kind of convoluted route (well it is Woodsie!) among the slurry filled lanes, we made a brief stop at Woodchurch for the conveniences and only injured 2 or 3 boy scouts on their remembrance day gathering!!. Here's the great bit though. As we pulled up at Arthur's stone, all alone on that little lane, there were two cars there, one with window open and the parade commentary quietly playing, and the chimes of Big Ben were signalling the beginning of the 2 minutes silence. Now how did Woodsie know that! Good ride though, even with the lanes wet, muddy and a tad slippery. Well done Kev, and Andy too.

Ride out done.......................

How does he do it, that Woodsie?

I am suprised myself really - when you factor in that "quick" story you started when we were getting ready to leave:rolleyes:, the stop for the two old 'uns at Woodchurch:rolleyes:, the non working temporary traffic lights:rolleyes: and we still got there:thumb2

elementary my dear Jacko - the chimes of Big Ben chime to start the 2 minutes silence every year:D

Well done Kev, and Andy too.
Good day, good reason for a ride, good company and good that we could pay our respects to Pilot Office Clarke
