Been over those roads a number of times on the bike.........they've only ever been dry when I've been in the car!!!

Did them in July, here .

Great roads but the weather could have been better. Might have another go this year :)

Nice pics and great weather.

If you were a MCS reader - how come you still haven't got an MZ ts250/1 supafive ?

I too read about the passes - but haven't done them yet..........

I was that reader and I still have that motorcycle.....:o

lovely pics

... those passes have been on my 'to do' list for years, too ...

... thanks for posting 'em.

Lovely!

Looks like you had a wonderful day out Peter - geting in plenty of practice for the Alston weekend.

Can you post the waypoint of the cafe in Broughton please - it's not one I know.

Thanks

Sherpa;)

Today as well

You can ignore the "road closed due to snow ice warnings" on the way in from the east. It was nice and quiet today, but a bit cloudy.:(

Great Langdale

Not far from here is a mile of gentle track which I first saw on a Williams ride out.

Nice colour John.

Here's (hopefully) the Mapsource file. I've included a waypoint for the Cafe in the Square - with the Biker Friendly sign on the wall.

Nice piccies John. Did I inspire your ride or were you going anyway?

Been once or twice before and going up / down the passes seems to agree with the manual for running in the bike:D And I had today off and the forecast looked good. Pity it wasn't quite as good in reality.

On another note the back brake was man enough to stop the bike on the way down from Hardnose in the hairpins bit:eek:

BTW I'm sure the beak will add at least 0.0015 mph to the top speed when the bikes run in, and it nicely matches the side panels.

There's a nice little pass from Great Langdale btw, before which is the mile or so of stony track that has a few puddles in it:D And as I wasn't trying to break any records the ramblers were pleasant as well.

Qoute:[And a picture of 'Wraith' minus exhaust crossover pipe:]

Great scenery! Can you please explain the effect of losing the crossover pipe.

Cheers

What happened to the bloke who fell out of the aeroplane in the first picture.

Nice one Wraithrider - the lakes has to be my favourite part of England. Spent many a happy day fell bashing in my youf + remember the E+R railway from a holiday at St Bees when I was about 9. Never done the area on a bike though..
Congratulations you've made me homesick...

Sunday 20th March

I blame you Wraithrider!

After checking the weather forcast, and inspired by this thread, headed west from Tyneside, over Hartside, passed Penrith down Ulswater , over Kirkstone pass, passed Old Dungeon Ghyl to the top of Langdale, then over Wrynose and Hardknot passes. Up the coast passed Selafield , up to Keswick and then home to Co Durham via Penrith, Hartside and Alston. Cracking day out, I only stopped for photographs and Petrol.
Took this picture from the top of Hardknot looking back towards Wrynose from almost the exact same spot as John Armstrong took his pic exept the weather is better (for motorcycling!) in mine!

Thats a ride I will do again.

It must be a 'red GS 12' thing to want to do this ride!

Yes, it makes more noise (not too much IMO) and I think it's quicker.

i.e. Remus header pipes have no crossover!
