Ride this Saturday the 6th of Feb

Well I didn't get very far...met up with Spout in Marple...then my chain snapped.Gutted.No damage done, entirely my fault for not lubricating it.It could have been worse I suppose,it could have wrapped around the wheel and I could have ended up on my arse again.I'm getting good at falling off!I was just so chuffed this morning, looking forward to the ride with my new boots and knee pads on which make me walk like robo cop.I have pictures,I'll put them on shortly....hope you all have a nice day chaps.

Rivet or split link? It looks like a rivet link chain, but I've never seen one snap before. Moral of the story is to lube chains and carry spares... I almost learnt the hard on a ride out back in Jan when my split link snapped, luckily no damage and one of the other guys had a spare.

New chain and sprockets later, I've now running on a rivet link and carry two spare split links - must remember to carry a chain breaker though :(

God, I just realised, you GS lot might not know what these things are at all! no its not a road snake ;)

well i took the chain to a mate and he said it's fooked, prob snapped cos the bike as not been used for years and the factory wax they put on the chain has congealed in to hard wax and you not lubricating the chain dose not help the matter
iv only had the bike about two weeks and the chap i got it off had it in a lockup for 5 years, and yes i took it for a service and they dint say fook all about the chain been fooked.

Awesome ride out cheers Guys. Speedo had packed in then the bloody sat nav did the same too on the way back:eek::eek::eek: found my way home thou. Plus My fingers are frozen still. but still grinning :thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb. It could have been worse ( my chain could have frozen off too ):augie:augie:augie

Great day that guys, Shouldn`t have done that last lane though.
Not concentrating for a split second and the back end washed out in a rut. Front dug into a tree and I went over the bars.
One knackered mud guard a load of electrical problems that means it will only bump start, and a sore shoulder.

Hey ho.

Cracking day all the same.

Cracking day out Gaz, thanks very much, some good lanes there:thumb, good to meet up with some old faces and meet new ones, as you say last lane caused more problems than the whole day, thanks Spout:rob

5 minutes from home isn't that when most accidents occur? I got stuck over a rut today too, it is luck whether you stay on or not.

Thanks for leading out today, I bet those lanes are a real blast when they are dry, but the water and mud made for some interesting moments.

Another top day out - cheers Gaz for leading and Spout for being rear gunner.

I don't we got any pics at all. I only put the XC down once and that was pretty minor.

I made the guy at the garage in Wimlsow laugh when I asked for a jet wash token. I thinks he more used to Bentley and Ferrari drivers than completely mud splattered XC pilots.

Catch you all next time.

What a lovely ride today. Bl**dy freezing mind.

Well that was the first trail ride I've been on since 1985 when I've not been astride a BMW. What a relief! I'm purged :D I think me and the little Beta are going to get on just fine.

Thanks Gary for leading us round a good selection of lanes:thumb and sorry for that last one :augie

And fair play to Lee on the Tourance shod Freewind :clap (slight mishap aside!)

As ever most of the enjoyment is from the company kept and not just the riding (and especially watching said company come a cropper :D).

sounds like ya loving the new bike then?
so pissed off i dint make it cos i had me helmet cam with me:comfort

Lee sends his thanks:

", just thought I’d drop you a mail thanking you and the chaps for Sundays run out. Great fun and to be repeated the first chance I get :-) and hopefully I’ll last longer than lunchtime."
