Rider to pillion Bluetooth

I've been trying to find a proper test of rider-pillion Bluetooth helmets and not having much success. Can anyone, A: point me in the direction of proper reviews or B: (and preferred) give their views on equipment they have used?

We are using an Autocom wired system at present which is getting old and, frankly, bothersome. Would prefer wireless, if poss, but have heard that the Starcom wired system is good.

I'm looking at the Nolan N-com but can't find positive views... which leaves me looking at BMW System 6 or the Schuberth equivalent. I "may" be able to afford these if I can find a really good argument in their favour. That's a big "may" as I'm Scottish...

Interphone F4 here. We were going to get the F3, but wanted the option of both types of microphones aswell as the option later of using it for bluetooth music/phone etc (not likely, but you never know).

We used the kit quite a bit in the couple of months we've had it. We can hear each other easily upto 85mph....have to speak up a bit at speeds over this, but rarely do them 2-up anyway. The sound is crystal clear too, without any kind of crackling that we experienced with the pair of cheaper units we had before. We leave the units switched on to VOX (I think its called), where we can just chat to each other without having to press any buttons, etc first and the longest day we've had so far has been nearly 10 hours. They weren't starting to cut out or anything else to indicate the batteries were running low either, just that we finished our trip first!

The other useful thing is the charging lead is 1 x wall plug with 2 leads from it, cutting down on space if you're packing it to go away. Teh only thing is, it has a Euro spec plug on it (so have to use a shaver plug to charge it) as I bought ours from an Italian seller on ebay for £199 + £15 p+p. It arrived within 4 days though! The Euro plug really doesn't cause a problem, as I just bought a spare shaver one from Tesco for about £3!

We looked at a number of units before settling on these. Another reason was the ease of removing the units from the helmets when I was riding solo, etc, and being able to tuck the lead up under the helmet lining out of the way. I attach my unit using 'large' double sided velcro to my Schuberth helmet, as the bracket things didn't quite match the contours of the lid. The velcro holds it perfectly, and is even better when the unit's not in use, as I don't have the bracket attached the the side.

Hope some of that helps, but I'm sure someone else will be along with their views on different types

Sena SMH10. I've only used it bike to bike so far. It's brilliant, so it could only be better with a pillion. Seemless performance. Stays open for comms, so no pressing buttons. Great for the phone/satnav/music. All the things I didn't want until I'd got them!

+1 for the Sena, perfect for bike to bike and rider to pillion, and even pillion to another bike.

Battery wise 10 hour + days and no sign of running out of power, and me and missus usually open comms when we set off for the day and they remain open all day, chatting as and when without having to push anything.

Plenty of volume, pairs with phone and also has a 3.5mm aux so can plug the supplied lead into an mp3 player or other device without Bluetooth.

Was a lot of money but so worth it.

Dont buy a lid with integrated B

Buy the helmet you want , or keep your existing, and buy one of the solutions mentioned above. I use a Sena and it works flawlessly every time.

Bought the Sena, agree with the crack. Do you have to buy a separate base to use / fit ear buds ? Find the speakers get in the way of my left ear, so going to change , if this is so where did folk buy theres from.

Denise and I use Scala Q2 headsets for both pillion and bike to bike. Very impressed with them.

Have Sharktooth units in x2 Shark helmets - lasted around 9-10 hours full time per day when took my son on pillion over to Switzerland. Supposed to be able to do 'vox' - hmm.. I think I need to read the manual - but otherwise excellent and as it's built in (or there's a space for the battery in the helmet) there is only a very small unit on the side of the helmet. Downside is you have to buy Shark (but not a problem as I think they're very good).
