I'm picking up a new (to me) 1200 GSA 90th on Monday, since it's been a few years since I've ridden I thought it might be a good idea to brush up my riding skills and get someone to check I'm doing my life-savers and positioning ok. Does anyone know the best way to organise this - through a bike school or maybe IAM group? In my mind I could do with someone following me around for an hour or so, giving me some pointers/refresher in my ear over the intercom.

I'm planning on getting involved in the Wey Valley AM group at some point - but could do with some immediate refresher training even if it's informal.

Have a look in the regional section of this forum, and maybe ask if anyone can help you out or recommend any good instructors.

Im doing similar next spring/summer. Having returned to biking this year following a 20 yr break, I want to make sure I'm riding as safe/good as possible.

Just join Wey Valley straight away,. it's a very good club & as well as the training they have very good "social" rides which really improve your riding. They meet the first Sunday on every month at Riply Village hall @ 9:30

Hi Lotusmartin,

Welcome back to biking. As a first port of call, have you tried BikeSafe? Its not training, but it is an assessed ride with police motorcyclist. Its cheap and cheerful, you even get lunch. all the bikers in my family have done it. may give you some pointers of anything that may be lacking. the website says they have a center in Aldershot, but there ae several others. Try here. Its only a first step.

Ride safe,

Path.

That is EXACTLY what I'm looking for, unfortunately they don't seem to start until April / May - Damn! Having said that it looks like I'm heading for ankle surgery next week so not much riding for me until Jan/Feb anyway :(

Sorry to hear about the surgery. I hope it goes well. I have worked with the NHS all my life. Bones is one of the things it does really well. You are in good hands

Sound's like you will be having physiotherapy, for which you have my sympathy. Good luck. I married one.

Book a place now on bikesafe their booking System is terrible!

Til then take care.

Regards,
Path.

I'm still looking for someone to spend a couple of hours with, ideally someone with bike to bike coms. Happy to pay for fuel and some beer money :) My surgery was postponed so should be able to get a few rides in over Christmas and NY.
