Originally sold to fishermen for knocking up toasted sarnies. I agree that it’s basically a frying pan with a lid. We use it to make toast, frittata and cook sausages. We even make pasties (partially cooked filling) at home which we bake in the RM. Really good, hard wearing non stick and, once heated up properly, works well as a mini oven.
