The Ridgeway is open to Traffic on Monday 1st May (Bank Holiday). Posted now to give you loads of advance warning :D

If anyone is interested in a ride from Streatley to Avebury let me know which dates you would prefer in the above poll (you can choose any number of dates from the list). I would aim for a 10am start and depending on numbers/experience expect it to take 3-4 hours. Pub lunch at Avebury :thumb

It was GS friendly last year and hopefully hasn't been chopped up too much by tractors etc over the winter.

It might be quite busy on 1st May and is usually busy on Sundays. If the weather is dry in the preceeding week then Tourances will be ok otherwise you'll need TKC80s - if it rains a lot in the preceeding few days then it's no fun at all on a GS

If dry it will be suitable for GSers wanting an introduction to greenlaning on their GS - you can get some idea of what the tracks are like here... http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53328

Ridgeway

Hi Clive - any suit me.

I'm up in Abingdon and just fettling my new (to me) 1100 for the bumpy stuff. Should be ready by next weekend. It will be a change from my pogo (450 EXC). How do you fancy a "pre-opening" go at some of the gentler byways?

Clive,

Count me in! Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th are optimal. Unless you're thinking about an early evening start.

On your GS?

Titch (Serow), Simon (1200GS) and I (TTR250) went out on some cross-ridgeway tracks this morning.
It was dry in most places but still a fair bit of damp chalk about, which was fun

More of it than usual is deeply rutted - looks like some heavy farm machinery has been out when the ground was soft.

Are you able to get out mid-week or only weekends?

I will almost definately be there. I'm itching to get back up there!!

Date confirmed...

It looks like Saturday 13th May got it by a nose - especially as I have now finalised the booking for a trip to Spain/France on Sunday 14th - I'll probably be on my pogo rather than GS - Just In Case ;)

I've posted a fresh thread... http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?p=616248 and will close this one.

Hopefully some of those that voted for other dates will be able to make the Saturday anyway :thumb
