Hiya,
I already took some days off to ride the Bike 8 between the 1st and 8th April. I am originally from Germany, but have been living in London for nearly 3 years now. Family will be away to Germany which gives me the unique opportunity to make this trip.
I would like to include the Applecross part as well as I plan to extend the ride as far up as Durness, via Lairg-Altnaharra-Tongue-Unapool-Ullapool. Furthermore, I am looking forward to avoid the Glasgow area by riding via Inverlochy-Cairndow-Dunoon (ferry)-Gourock-Ayr-Carsphairn to Dumfries.
I have got the 9th in spare, just in case... Of course everything, especially in the far North, depends on the weather. If it is raining cats and dogs for days, I am not going to push it that far. It shall be fun and an enjoyable ride with my 1200 GSA.
I have got my tent with me, but I am prepared to take a B&B too, if everything got soaked through too much. But main idea is to camp as much as possible.
So why do I post that here? Just in case somebody doesn't live too far away from the route and would be interested maybe to meet for a pint or two in the evening and to have a chat, just let me know. Even joining me for some miles for a cup of coffee on the way could be an idea as well.
Of course I can't say now where I will be on the f.e. 5th, cause I don`t know how my progress will be. But everything could be coordinated via a message from my phone while being on the tour.
I like to enjoy being on my own to get a time-out from work and busy London, but for sure I really would like to meet some like minded local people as well.
So just let me know, if you are interested. Would love hearing from somebody.
Cheers,
Tom
