I was fortunate to spend the day with instructors Max, JT and Luke from Long Range Tactical and would highly recommend them to anyone interested in improving their rifle shooting.

I've been deer stalking for ten years and learned the skills through a combination of friends, days at Bisley and YouTube. I started on .223 then a .308 and now a .270 for a combination of lowland/high seat here in Devon and proper stalking on Skye. I find the challenge of trying to outwit a beastie which can see, smell and hear better than I can from miles away incredibly therapeutic. Some of the best stalks, especially on Skye, have not ended with a shot.

But I'd found that my technique was not improving, and having bought a Swarovski Z6i scope with ballistic turrets for ease of elevation changes, I was keen to get properly schooled. I can honestly say that I learned and put into action more knowledge and techniques today than the last few years. I was hitting small 500m steel targets on the first shot and feel so much more confident in myself and the rifle.

Invest in yourself, not in more gear.
