The right grip is shot, i found a thread about grips going and will stick a meter across it to check if it's open
I understand resoldering may do the trick, my issue is i believe i will need to remove the throttle cable... Pointers welcome, electrics I'm fine with.... The mechanical side i like to investigate before even starting

Take it apart, nothing will go ping and fall apart in a thousand pieces.

Once the covers are off it's pretty obvious what to do.

Throttle cable is attached inside the housing with a typical push bike style barrel fixture, it'll just unhook.

Little white connector for the heated circuit. Undo and meter across, good luck with soldering... Only if the break is evident in the short bit of wiring exposed..

£97 a go for a new one from the stealers...

Spend 200 and get a matching pair.
Lovely feeling looking at brand new grips.

Had both of mine pack up this year. ( A few months apart. ) Both of mine had failed somewhere inside the grip so impossible to fix. Pretty easy to swap out. Throttle is the most expensive one. Put it down to "running costs" of a BMW.

Oxford Hotgrips about 1/4 the price and you get a controller. Or solder the BMW wire connector to the Oxfords.

Its not all plain sailing the LHS switch block is retained by the grip which is screwed into the handlebar. You will need to do a bit of head scratching but £150 buys a lot of messing about.

I like to keep that stuff stock. My grips themselves where almost worn through.
Each to their own I suppose.

My throttle side went, I effected a repair but 'twas only temporary, bought a replacement when I felt flush (mind you, its a bit closer to cold season for you!)
