i'm having a bit of grief with my 2610. it seems to get it's position wrong, about 50 mtrs off road actually.

there is a ring around the position arrow too. what does that mean?

i'm trying to leave for lands end as well :(

The ring is the accuracy figure projected on the map.

Do you have the lock to road function turned on in the menus?

Someone else will have to tell you how to turn that on, for a 2610.

50 metre mapping errors are not uncommon

Whereas I agree with you about the mapping errors, the large 'probability circle' is normally a function of poor satellite reception (it's the only time I get the 'ring of underconfidence' appear on my NavII).

I assume this is something that has recently started? (ie, the unit has worked as advertised in the past). If so, have you recently fitted a different mount? The Touratech mount has a metal clamp directly over the (internal) aerial, which I've always suspected would interfere with a signal.

Check that it is reading the loaded maps - if it's on basemap you're more likely to get this problem.

Try taking out the CF card and reinserting it before you turn the unit on.

i ignored it & it went away in the end :)

i'm using the TT MvG mount which i knew caused reception problems, but i've not experienced any until last friday.

i'll be buying a remote arial i think.
