I smashed another spotlight last week, this time while pushing the bike through a tight spot, to park it.
Since I pushed it against a metal barrier without realising, I damaged the small front plastic ring around the headlight lense.

Now, offroading the GS from time to time, I snapped a few spotlights over time. They are prone to break especially if you fall while riding in ruts deep enough.
Most times you can just replace the front support ring (part #63127653586).
I do have a spare spot that I replaced in its entirety because the body was smashed, so I am trying to salvage part from that one (namely: the small front ring) but I cannot seem to detach it.

Has anyone ever tried? I am trying to pry it gently, but doesn't budge, and I do not want to snap it.

Also. The small ring on the spotlight I damaged has two notches. The one from this (older) spotlight only has one.

The broken one:

The one I am trying to remove:

Update: I am an idiot.

I was being lazy and didn't remove the support ring from the old spotlight and, more importantly, I wasn't wearing my reading glasses (FFS :D ). 3 tabs on the old one too: removed and replaced.

What a gripping thread. :D
