Hi, I have an early 2015 MacBook Pro 13” Retina using Monterey Mac OS.
I rip my music cd’s to the hard disc using Apple music and an but it will no longer recognise the CD’s when I insert them. I have tried a new Mac SuperDrive but still no joy. It will recognise pre recorded DVD’s and play them
I have an older Mac Mini with an earlier OS and that will recognise the music CD’s.
Any ideas why this is now happening? Thanks in advance.

Obvious first thing is the powering it off and back on, but I'm guessing you've done that....

Next thing I would try is something like fre:ac or X Lossless Decoder and see if they are able to see / RIP your CD's. Both are free so it won't cost you anything to try.

That might help point the finger in the right direction. Could be something to do with Apple music...

Actually, it might be the Apple music shortcut that's been corrupted. Try going to the Applications folder and opening Apple music from there directly. If it works then just delete the shortcut (or remove it from the dock) and then make a new one.

Let us know how you get on :thumb2

So it wont play any music cd. even in another media app?

This use to be an issue if the CD ripped didn't have the session ended...ie the CD was left 'open' so that you could add new tracks.

I feel that once they updated the firmware they have removed, forgotten, deleted something that is affecting how it reads these CD's, especially as your older device still works.
