went out today on the new wonder bike as opposed to my 12 plate tb gsa, mixture of a3 and minor roads that i know well around box hill newlands aldbury and ranmore common.im not a great scribe so will put it simply as i can.

riding modes? why bother i would like the power hike spread across range, road mode was the most usable although in dynamic it really went well.

suspension was far and away the best aspect of the bike for me very good much
better than my bike much more controlled and plush.

i thought the gearbox was poor, huge clunk going into first, dragged slightly after tea stop,as i started up in first clutch in the bike wanted to creep forward.on the fly it was okay though.

overall handling was very good, held a tight line really easily and changes of direction was effortless.flat out in dynamic in 3rd gear hit a large ridge in road caused a hard twitch on the bars but no instabilty or tankslap.

i thought the dash far to fussey and the speedo didgits to small.

worst part imo? vibration through whole bike on high speed overun and at low speed high gears.

got back on my gsa and after going back down the same roads as the lc i dont think i will be temped the gsa seemed less busy and smoother.

the brakes i found laced initial bite but were very srong after that so no prob there.

Went for a test ride myself today....and totally agree with your comments.

I've got a 2010 GSA, and there's no way I'd swap it for the new Gs LC....it was more sport bike than Gs, and I found the vibration and turbulence very annoying.

I think we will all have different thoughts on the new LC , i had a fully sorted 1200gs2011 TC , better screen, full wilburs esa and still found the new bike so much better . The older bike always seemed to give me a buzzy head on long fast straights as the engine was viby , non of this on the new one.
I had the Multistrada S as well and the new GS is better than the Ducatti which is now gone.
I have only ever riden a GSA once and found it to be a little on the lardy side compared to the older GS ,and the screen way to big and was like looking thro a thick riot shield , the LC screen is brilliant and works . I have tried so many aftermarket and GSA screens but nothing comes close.
Again we are all different , one of my old favorites was my C90 which i used as a kid ....miss that bike :thumb

same bike very diff opinions, tbh the vibration on the lc was one of the most irritating things for me,that and the horrible switchgear.
my gsa on the way home felt much more civilised.

Cruising at 90-95 today (private road) pannier loaded, felt so much nicer and less vibey tham my old twin cam really really nice.

You should try an RT, even better at those speeds and comfier:hide

Can't agree with that. I bought a new RT last Oct. and px'ed it for the LC GS. ( I don't normally change my bikes as quickly as that, I bought the RT for a good price, as a stop gap until I'd ridden the new GS & new Multi.)
The ESA on the RT was horribly harsh, and the riding position cramped in the legs. Also it was not as eager to cruise at 90 as the GS is. The GS is way more comfortable and a lot more fun.

I agree with the Engineer, 90-95, although a bit naughty is no problem on the new GS.

I had a 57 plate 1200 and found 85 was about the right speed to sit at, when on a long run. I think of 3 things (assuming the road conditions are all good), the engine revs, should be more than 2/3's full. Noise, comfort, air flow etc and the fuel economy.

Did a few cross France and Germany runs on that bike both solo and 2 up and found 85 was about optimal.

The new bike seems much more able to do that bit extra with ease which makes me feel much happier as if I keep to a more legal 85 (in France) I'm reving the engine less, I'm more comfortable and probably squeezing more MPG (which seems to be a little better any way).

I did consider an RT but...... may be in 20 years time as at 45, I'm still too young!!!
:augie

Cruising at 90-95 is RT territory. Had an 1150RT and had to get rid before I lost my license. Ended up going everywhere at 90+, it was definately quicker than my GS showing 130 on the speedo flat out.
For intercontinental cruising it was ace, but it was dangerous to the license and not a bike to fall in love with. A bit too vfr. Very accomplished, but a touch boring for being so good.

I thought the 12RT twin cam was a far better handling & powerful road bike, than either the similar 12 GS or GSA bikes I rode

Just sadly not as versatile & too much plastic

Indeed. But I just switched from the RT to back to the GS for one main reason: I just had no fun on the RT. I liked it, I was well protected and comfortable and I could have gone to the other end of the world (provided the roads were in perfect conditions) but I had no fun. And, boy, was it heavy at slow manoeuvering speeds, parking and moving around in the garage!

How do you find the throttle on off the gas compared to the TC and the Multistrada?

How tall are you? Or have you got long legs? I'm 32" inseam with a proper bad knee, and find it all day (500 mile +) comfy withy he seat in the low position. That said, a few years ago I had an R6 - now that was uncomfortable! Used to take me ten minutes to straighten my leg out after a decent ride!:jibber

That should be something special to behold. Test riding the GS later this month, but waiting for new RT before new bike - wanna try them both back to back eventually.

Just think what the new re-vamped RT is gong to be like when they put that engine in the new one :thumb:clap
:flag

It will probably be the best rt ever because the rt is a road bike and designed for fast, smooth and effortless touring:thumb2
The rt has always been plasticky anyway :D
