Done this a few times over the years and April seems to be the best month.
Meeting at the Lochy at about 11am to be back on the road for 12 noon.
Heading up the A830, then onto the forest track, think its about 18 miles till it joins the single track at the far end of the Loch over into Strontian then onto Corran.
Alternatively there is a road only route that takes you up to Lochailort then round Glenuig/ Strontian/ Corran.
The forest track is easy 90% of the time. It only gets “interesting” after a sustained period of heavy rain and if there has been any large forestry machinery turning up the track.
I've never had a problem running Tourances on this track.
Takes me just about 2 hours for this wee loop but with a group and stopping for photos I reckon it'll be closer to the 4 hour mark. That would get you off the Corran Ferry in plenty of time to be home in daylight.
Please make sure you have enough petrol before arriving at the pub
Road to Isles Filling station is less than a mile away at the junction of the A82/ A830. 1/2 a tank should be enough.
Accommodation info.
Lochy camp site.
Glen Nevis Camp Site
Ben Nevis Inn Bunkhouse
Bank Street Lodge
Glen Lochy Guest House
Inverlochy Castle Hotel
Should be something there for everyone.
Usual disclaimer, this is not an event its just me going for a bimble wi a few mates. Please dont ask for details of the route, I wont post them on the net.
Click on the pint in my sig line for directions on how to get to the pub.
Ill provide coffee and a bun at the pub for anyone that wants it.
Right, think thats about it. Someone book the weather please.
