Before shifting this NUTTY give me a chance!!:thumb

I am interested in those of you who Have fitted Road focused tyres, and what your thoughts are on them on the GS LC..

I will use this GS only on the road and I do like a bit of a spirited ride..and as I will be trekking Euroland this summer with a Super Duke Riding mate I know its going to get,, very spirirted

Michelein Metzler, Pirelli, Dunlops, Bridgestone,, whatever you have chosen.

I am planning on ditching my ANK III ( they will have 6-700 miles on em.. sensible offer or will keep..)

:thumb2 thanks

Can't comment on them, but I've read that the new Michelin Pilot Road 4 are pretty good. They have different versions, for the GS it would be the Trail version.

Are any others besides the ones below fitted as OE?

There don't seem to be an awful lot of tyres available in 120/70-19 and 170/60-17.

So far, I've seen the Tourance Next, Anakee III and Continental Trail Attack.
Are there any others fitted as OE?

I'll be fitting PR4's on mine when they both need changing.:thumb Which won't be long. :blast

I'm slightly concerned at their potential performance on gravelly B roads, and smaller roads; maybe someone can put my mind at rest, before I shell out over £200?

When you say this months...do you mean the May edition?

I'd like to read it..

So on a real nadgery b road that has a bit of moss / grass growing down the middle, gravel here and there, would an 'adventure tyre' (tourance, anakee, trail attack .. ) fair any better than a road tyre ??

Yeah, they've got a deeper / wider tread pattern, but it's not like a proper dirt tyre (heidenau / TKC) so in my mind, there's probably very little in it.

That's what I thought, but wanted some input from anyone running the PR4, as I'm regularly riding roads like your picture, and don't want to get caught out.:comfort:thumb

Bloody hell! That's not a 'B' road - that's a farm track!!

If I were trying to take an LC down that road, I'd be happiest with a pair of fairly aggressive knobblies like TKC80s. Even Heidenau Scouts or the new Metzeler Karoos would be a little too tame.

I regularly zoom down B roads, two up, exactly like that and worse i.e. when it's raining and there's a river washing the mud downhill. Regular old school tourances are more than fine... Nick V - farm tracks are far worse - just today I had to park up on the widest part of the verge I could find and we ( the boss and I ) walked the remaining 2 miles to the beach. No way through 2ft craters filled with rain, slippy sludge and hidden rocks. Fun getting as far as we did though...

I'm with Giles, there's not a lot between most tyres under these conditions. Throttle control is king... keep your speed to where you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear + daily checks for punctures and pressures, you'll be fine. A set of PR4's will be super speedy, wet or dry. I had a set of PR3's and loved them. Have a great trip!

I run on dunlop roadsmart 2. Great grip. Very confidence inspiring knowing you have sport touring rubber. Ride 99% on the road so why have anything else but proper road tyres. Handles fantastic, once fitted you wont go back. Mate of mine has the fake trail tyres fitted to his lc and is about to swap his tyres to the pr4. Makes sense.
