pretty please
Funny really but the road book type events never been popular here in UK, and I was talking to the promoter from WOR Events a while back, and he said even time card enduros are dying off now too......
WTF, are folk going soft over here or what?
I reckon you could run a superb event in North Wales, navigating by road book......
Timpo.

There's software out there to create them. Not that I'm hinting or anything![]()
I think a long distance - navigation exercise would be good using road and off road trails - with check points. I don't think it could be an event as such because of the use of normal roads and trails open to the public.
I'd certainly be up for this type of exercise using only road book as navigation - you could even do it as road / back lanes type exercise. I think the key to it would be check points that really need accurate road book navigation to find.
That way at least those of use who want to do road book rallys get some practise - I remember my first day on the Alto Turio ;-)
There is software - it's made by Touratech and I tried using it once but it was a bit complicated - perhaps Touratech could help?

IIRC, there is some free software out there as well, not tried it or heard if its easy to use.

Instead of check points, the participant can take a picture to prove they were there, if itt is a blind course, no previous knowledge of route. The course can use green lanes and roads and done in groups of no more than 4 . You can estimate the minimum time to complete it based on the speed limits you set and the distance travelled. You win self satisfaction.
Just an idea, easy to set up.
