Roadcrafter or Rallye3 suit

Hi.

Im looking for comments on the Rallye3 V Roadcrafter suit. I know it 2 v 1 bit suit, but to be honest ive not found a suit thats similar, in the uk.

Overall, are the any quality issues, that you guys know of? & any recommendations. The suit is for touring use only.

Cost.
The Rallye 3 comes in around £950 pounds.
Roadcrafter £1050 by the time you add alterations Vat & Import tax.

Don't know much about the roadcrafter suit, but it can come as a two piece. (according to Google .. !)

I'd never buy a one piece suit.

My Rallye 3 leaks badly if wet for long, but the Roadcrafter one piece is bone dry after hours of pissing rain.

Roadcrafter everytime. I've had mine for over 5 years and worn it just about every day and never really got wet. Shorts underneath in the summer,jeans underneath in the winter.

Why buy anything else

Hein Gericke 1 peice competition suit.

I only wear it when it's raining heavily,which has been a lot just lately.

Four years old, worn it in some terrential rain,never let a drop in.

Paid £49.99 in the sale.

For me it's a no brainer.

Klim prices make BMW look like Aldi stuff...

I have had long wet trips in rallye2 and stayed dry, except for my hands which I have het to solve - mainly I cannot do the gloves inside sleeves thing.

I've used a roadcrafter for 7 years.
Kept me dry all the time. I've slid off in france wearing it ( not a mark on it). And i've slept in the desert wearing it
The outside pockets stay dry.
It's extremely hard wearing.
The most useful sized and positioned pockets.
No messing around putting it on. Get your boots on and everything else ready then suit on in seconds and on the bike.
They don't change the style to suit whatever is fashionable ( they don't need to as it's near on perfect to start with).
Wear summer/winter clothes underneth, whip it off when you get where you're going and be normal, instead of walking around looking like an extra from a space cadet film.

Just had all the velcro on the suit replaced by the local indian alteration shop, £10

I think Klim and Rukka are the best made, I love my BMW suit but without doubt the build quality is below that of those 2.

Bottom line is does it look how you want it to, and does it have the functional qualities, Ill get shot down for the looks comment but the truth is that if its great but looks crap you prob wont want to wear it.

I've a Roadcrafter, a rallye 2 and a Darien jacket.

As said, the aerostich stuff is brilliantly made and hard wearing. The only issue is that the velcro will lose it's attraction after a few years and the red colour fades. The Darien jacket is completely waterproof and you can fit the windstopper heated fleece for winter snug riding.

The road crafter is great for commuting and touring in hot weather (wear shorts and enjoy your coffee in comfort whilst your friends roast) and is a piece of kit you grow very fond of. It is not particularly warm and the zip will leak (although the new ones claims waterproof zips).

The rally 2 is much sexier to wear and is a great jacket - very heavy off but seems to lose its weight once worn. I find the goretex of the trousers become uncomfortable in time (although I think the rally 3 is said to be better).

I've just bought some Rukka trousers which are excellent - really comfortable for 500 mile days and the claim that the black is treated to avoid excess heat from the sun seems to be true. They were not too hot in 34'c.


So presently for me it is:

Summer: Rallye 2 jacket and probably Rukka trousers for long distance (Rallye 2 trousers if shorter distance)

Winter: Darien jacket with Rukka trousers.

Commuting over suit: Aerostich road crafter.

Question i'd ask myself is would i be considering the rallye 3 if i didnt have a gs?
