Hi All,

Wonder if anyone can help? I've done a search in the forums prior to posting this and couldn't spot anything that points me in the right direction.

I used my tank bag today and when I got home, I noticed a small piece of grit or something had gotten between the bag and the tank on my 09 rock red GSA.

Its rubbed and removed the paint right down to the "wood" - I'm really bloody annoyed to be honest :(

The chip is only small, but I'd like to touch it up - I know the paint code for Rock Red is 951.

Does anyone know where I can source some of this so that I can sort this out?

Thanks......

Tried BuMW dealer?

They will send their bodywork repairs somewhere, for sure. And / or they may well do touch up pens.

Probably with the code you can get some made up for you.

Halfords recently mixed some paint for me from a code. It was for a commercial vehicle and the colour wasn't on the shelf. They also gave me the choice of pen or spray can.:clap

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I rang my BMW dealer today - but they said it isn't something they do and they don't stock any touch-up stuff - Halfords sounds like a good approach.

Cheers...

Curious about the answer to this one as I have a GSA in the same colour...

I've used RS Paints before; http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en/

They produced paint exactly matching my VFR. Although this colour isn't listed on their model specific lists I have e-mailed them to see if they can do it... I'll let you know!
:)

Cheers alleycam! Will go to Halfords later today and i'll post back here what they say.

if you have no joy at halfrauds try your local model shop - they stock small tins of humbrol enamel in many shades of red - perhaps one of these will match

When you find where to have the paint mixed, post it up, please.

Your answer may well help others.

Hi All,

Halfrauds was a total waste of time. Here's how it went..

I go into my local Halfords and provide them with the paint code - off the guy goes to the back of the shop on the computer only to return to say it isn't listed.

So, I then ask about making up a custom batch - "sorry we don't do that".

As he is rambling on about them not being able to supply the paint, I notice a stack of Halfords leaflets on the counter offering bodywork services / scratch removal etc. etc. - so I hold one up to the assistant and he then states "ah, we don't offer that service here"! Duh! So what was with the leaflets? Either they offer the service or they don't?!?!?

Made a slight error in my post - its Magma Red I need.

A local company near where I work is saying they should be able to do it, but it could be priced "from £100".

I also noticed this site is the U.S. - they have the exact touch up paint "Magma Red" - but they appear to only ship in Canada and the US :(

Apologies all - the Code 951 is incorrect - that is for Rock Red.

Magma Red is code N15.

Cheers PhilM - just waiting for a call back after I called them (PremierPaintPots) earlier with the details - the guy there is checking on availability.

I'm amazed I couldn't find premierpaintpots when I Googled yesterday and today?

RS Bike Paint at http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en/ don't have the Magma Red it seems, their paint colour wizard doesn't list the 09' R1200GSA. I have emailed them and await a reply.

Will post here what happens.

Thanks again.

Got my reply from RS Paints... Not entirely the answer you were asking for but it is based on the 'rock red' colour, not 'Magma' as it seems to be that you're after now... Might still be worth an enquiry though? :)

Thanks for your enquiry,

I'm afraid this is a brand new colour that we do not yet have a formulation for. If you are able to supply us with a small sample of the paint (eg flake from the damaged area), then we can mix this for you, no problem. It only takes a couple of days.

Please do get in touch if you are able to do this.

Kind regards

Heidi

Cheers alleycam.

I think I have located a company in the US that are willing to ship - they are:

http://www.colorrite.com

They do the exact colour Magma Red ("SKU 8105, BMW N04 Magma Red") and so long as you go for the touch-up pen or the small containers they are happy to ship to the UK - they can't sell the larger volume stuff as paint is hazardous they said.

So that looks like a go-er to me. They also sell the touch-up primer in pen form aswell.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Another area of scratching by my brilliant tankbag is on the petrol cap itself - does anyone know of the silver colour that would match this that I can use that will tidy that up please?

Cheers.....
