Just discovered when attempting to tighten centre thread of nut holding the rocker cover that nut continued to turn without tightening. When I then undid the nut the stud came out together with aluminium thread. Can I assume the only solution would be to helicoil?

Your comments and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The centre nut doesn’t take much torque… ( I cannot remember the exact spec)
I think that’s why a lot of airheads have stripped centre bolts.

a Threadsert would be a better option to be honest

But Helicoils work well too

Not wishing to hijack this 'thread' (forgive the pun) where in the UK is it possible to buy Theadsert or Timesert kits (thinking M6 and M8), please?

And looking at these helicoil alternative, they seem to have a flange at the top edge that does not enter the hole, seeming to stand proud. How do you get them to sit flush?

The countersinking tool comes with the kit. I get mine direct from Wurth on line.
