rocker cover protectors

Why?

Don't mean to be mean spirited but if the bike goes over, the engine bar will stop the rocker cover grounding. I think they're getting confused with the later bikes needing protection and not having f' off engine bars.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

How much better it would be if they could be bothered to weld up the corners........stronger too.

The last thing you want to do is put unnecessary stress on that 8mm centre bolt. You'd be better off carrying a spare rocker box.

Awful AWFUL things..as Rob says, that centre threaded rod is just sufficient to hold the rocker cover on. besides looking sh**e, they are pure bling ( this sort of crap should be in the toilet section :D )

The are as useless as a sump guard which bolts to the sump, but a few people have them.
They are only made for the OEM square covers, but square covers are usually thick enough to take a fair hit - it is the aftermarket peanut covers which wont survive a fall of the side stand which need some protection, and the aftermarket bars which sweep back to protect the covers are the only way to do that effectively.
But when about 95 % of airhead modifications are needless and counterproductive no need to get to excited about another one - at least they are not powder coated black.

In your humble opinion..

Tacky bits of bent metal are useless and look aweful as well.

Speaking from personal experience I can cite many cases where the exact opposite is true.

But then:-

Beemerboffs way is the only way, folks..........

Yawn..............

Hi Thanks for all the replies,
I do tend to agree with those who commented about the lack of need for these things, however It did give us something to talk about on a dull January night.
Can anyone else find anything equally not needed for us to spent our money on and make our "proper" GS's look more like their 1100, 1150 and 1200 pimped up (tactical) counter parts.

I was thinking along the lines of that to protect the paint Finnish on the engine when the roads are damp, or when you are camping on a perfectly flat fully serviced camp site one of these would be essential
