Rocker cover replacement

I want to replace the left rocker cover as it has some scratches and knocks and so want to put on a new one.

Daft question but.... if I just get a new one from the Parts Dept, is there any good reason why I shouldn't be able to fit it myself?

Looks like I just need to remove the plug lead and the oil filler cap and undo a few bolts. Straightforward, no?
Will I get half a ton of oil falling out onto the drive?

Just place the bike on the center stand and if warm let it cool down. Remove the spark plug plastic cover (No need to remove the actual spark). Unscrew the screws that are holding the rocker cover and remove the rocker cover. Just place a bucket underneath the cylinder because you will get some oil on the floor if you dont. Minimal quantity though. Be carefull to place the rubber seal correctly on the new cover.To Replace with the new one just reverse the removal instructions. Job done!! 15 minutes including cleaning.

Can you please let us know the price of a cover, as I'm very wary of damaging mine as it says "magnesium" on them, and we all know that's engineer speak for "expensive"...

Thanks Conwise! Was hoping it would be that simple.

As for cost - IIRC the Parts Dept said the cover would be £89+VAT. Well in that region anyway.
