I've got a small stone chip on by twin cam GSA rocker cover.

Does any one know the paint code or a 'near' match?

Many thanks

Mike

Fussy silver or IwUrEE-2muCH :D
:beerjug:

PS Den is selling some protector protectors. PM him.

PPS I guess Hamerite silver, smooth, ain't too far out

Many thanks for your help, but the covers are a beige colour (2010 twin cam model)

Mike

It's like the engine paint, not a specified BMW colour

give your local model shop a visit - humbrol do a huge range of enamel paint pots - i found a decent match for my 2009 gs rocker cover - worth a try

Soon as you fix it - you'll drop it... :comfort

Leave it and make up a story about some perilous ascent of a remote hill in Mongolia to explain...

Gives it character and credibility...

Might be worth taking that code to Halfords and ask if they can make up a can for you. They are supposed to be able to match any official paint code. Worth a try at least. ;)

Or if halfords don't then any reasonable auto paint shop will, especially if you take the cover with you.

I have been in touch with Phil at RS BikePaint this week. He was really helpful and sent me a small sample of the cam cover paint, which looks like a really good match. The code he gave me was 38200.

I painted mine with car body paint. The gear turned it crinkle finish. It won’t need VHT paint but the ordinary stuff isn’t up to the task.

I have had a scuff on one of mine since I bought it. I keep toying with the idea of having them powder coated. Shouldn't cost too much given my Harley frame and bits and bobs were only about £200 and they will both match and both be much more robust than factory paint.

Maybe one day when I am not using the bike so much I will get round to it....

High temperature powder coat will do the job. But round off all sharp edges and have the gasket face done as well. It's not an engineering fit and that will avoid the coating peeling at the joint line. The coating goes thin at cut metal edges and allows corrosion to start.

Another option is a carbon fibre appearance cover that glues on with silicone sealant. It wont protect like a "proper" protector but they are questionable value anyway.
